If someone got fired from his job, it may cause him pain for multiple reasons. The person might feel hurt or even betrayed, especially if he had that position for a number of years. He might feel insulted thinking about the fact that his boss did not appreciate his work. And, of course, the person may feel worried about how he is going to support himself and his family going forward. The person may have a hard time falling asleep at night due to his worry and stress, and his life becomes very difficult as a result of all this. What can we say to give this person chizuk ? First of all, the person should not feel insulted or hurt in the least bit. The reason he was fired had nothing to do with what his boss thought of his work. It was determined by Hashem that in order for this person to achieve his purpose in the world, it would no longer suit him to be working in that business, and so Hashem used the boss as His messenger to remove that individual from the company. He should not take it personally. It was done by Hashem for his best. When he lies down to go to sleep and can’t feel at rest due to the stress, he should say to himself- Everything is going exactly the way it is supposed to be. Hashem put me where He wants me to be for my own benefit. I’m in the best hands. The One who has been taking care of me my entire life is going to continue taking care of me . If he could think those thoughts over and over, it will calm his nerves. Not only will he be able to sleep soundly, he will receive immeasurable rewards for that emunah. Regarding the future parnasa , we say הרבה שלוחים למקום – Hashem has many ways of sending money. For the time being, it might not come in the form of a regular job, but Hashem doesn’t only send our parnasa through a job. He has infinite ways of sending. And when the time is right, He’ll send exactly what the person is supposed to be getting. The loss of the job will not change the fixed amount that Hashem determined on Rosh Hashanah that this person is supposed to have. He can give the money in small increments or He can give the money in large increments. It will all be decided by Hashem for the man’s good. A person told me he received a call from someone representing the organization ATIME asking if he wanted to buy a “split the pot” raffle ticket. This man loves supporting that organization, so he gladly replied yes. It happened to be at a time where he could use the extra money, so he started seriously thinking about how to win that raffle. He told the representative on the phone, “I pledge right now to give back $25,000 if I win.” Sure enough, that night, this man won the raffle. The pot got up to $130,000, so he received $65,000. And then, he made good on his pledge and gave $25,000 back. Just like that, Hashem gave him $40,000. Another man told me, it was about a week before Pesach this year when he was down to his last $500. He had been out of work due to Corona and he didn’t have any savings to fall back on. It was 12:30 at night, he was still up and began talking to Hashem in his own words, asking for help with parnasa . He has a website in which other companies advertise on. He started scrolling through it and saw some type of medical kit that looked like it might be good for nursing homes, so he put out a message asking if any nursing homes would be interested in such a kit. He figured he’d get a good price on it, and then resell it for a profit. Within thirty minutes, at 1:00 in the morning, someone contacted him saying he saw the advertisement for the medical kit and asked if he could get a hold of masks instead. This man actually knew of a supplier of masks and was able to connect the people and make a sale the next day that earned him $100,000 profit. He went from having nothing to being able to support his family for months. A third person told me he was moving into a new house right after Pesach this year. It was a modest home that he used all of his savings for to bring up to livable conditions. He couldn’t afford to finish the job of repairing the central A/C that the house already had. The weather started to get hot and his family was sweating there. He needed another $4400 to complete that job, but he was literally down to nothing. He asked Hashem to please help him come up with that money. Lo and behold, a few days later, this man received a check in the mail from the IRS – the stimulus check – for exactly $4400. Regarding our parnasa, Hashem has many ways of giving it. הרבה שלוחין למקום. We’ll get everything we are supposed to have. Our job is to trust Him in whatever happens to us and recognize He’s always doing it for our good.
